Dear Millennial Moms,
I see you.
I see you worrying about your family. I see you working from home like so many fellow Millennial moms. I see you struggling to comprehend what life during a pandemic is supposed to look like. I see you adjusting to helping your children with distance learning instead of homework. I see you smiling between moments of fear. I see you laughing when you forget about the outside world and binge Netflix with your spouse.
I hear you.
I hear you ask your friends for support. I hear you crying out to your tribes while you’re working from home with all your kids, or trying to go to work while figuring out who can safely stay with your kids. I hear you spreading words of encouragement to others who are struggling with fear, anxiety, and worry. I hear you encouraging other moms to keep moving during a time that feels paralyzing.
I support you.
I support all your efforts to maintain a sense of normalcy at your home. I support your desire to help others who might be struggling. I support your dedication to your job and your family. I support your small business during uncertain economic times. I support all the hard work you are doing for your families right now.
I ask you.
I ask you to stay at home. I ask you to think about the health and safety of people you don’t even know, even if it’s a little inconvenient. I ask you to live out of your pantry for a couple of weeks, even if that means eating spaghettios and a few weird meals. I ask you to keep loving on your kids, even when they’re pushing you to your limit. I ask you to spread the word of God, as even the faithful can use a little boost right now. I ask that you appreciate all that we have. And I ask that you appreciate all those who are on the front lines working tirelessly to save lives.
I encourage you.
Stay strong, Millennial Moms. We are a nation of innovators and movers-and-shakers. We are resilient and strong. And more importantly, we are a group of people who have all done hard things in the past. We’ve all done something so hard that we couldn’t see the light on the other side. This is just one of those moments. Right now, we must rise to the occasion and do our part. Stay home, wash your hands, and pray for your country and government leaders.
